Personally, I like the label "boylover"... but I don't think it's that well known amongst non-boylovers and I also think that when people first hear it... it sounds sleasy.

I have been thinking about doing a separate post about this, but since the topic has come up, I'll just jump in here.

I have no problem with the term "boylover" in the context of a board like this, where we all generally know what we mean by it. However, I agree that it can sound "sleazy" to the outside world. If I were to say, "Johnny and Suzie are lovers", what would most people think? They MIGHT think that Johnny and Suzie like to take long walks on the beach, but more than likely (at least in my opinion; got no stats to prove it), they'll think that Johnny and Suzie are having sex.

To me the term "lover" carries with it too much baggage to be safely used with those outside of the BL community. If I ever decided to "come out" to a close family member or friend, I would almost certainly not use that term (or "pedophile", for that matter). I feel that "Boy Attracted" (BA) does a good job of describing my "condition", without adding any unnecessary baggage.

Thoughts?

Blessings,
Rainboy
