I think that's the same terminology I used when I came out to my father. I don't remember for sure, but I think that's how I put it. I came out because he discovered certain things. Had I known that he only suspected me of being gay, I wouldn't have come out, but I thought he already knew everything and I figured I might as well fess up. He did some research online, I pointed him to open hands (which, afaik, he read some posts in but never participated), and he got over it. We just don't talk about it.
