So yesterday I figured I'd cracked the Big Secret. Felt generally good about myself and finally 'getting over him' (read my last post under 'fear' topic). I just watched "Chaplin" with Robert Downey Jr. Had forgotten for years how my YF used to imitate Chaplin after we saw "Modern Times", even putting on a fake moustache and all. Suddenly in the middle of the movie, when the "Modern Times" clips rolled, the full clear-as-day memory of him overwhelmed me and first I began to laugh out loud, then to cry. It seems that whenever I manage to make the last 'trigger' not an issue, a new one comes out of nowhere and totally reduces me to a babbling mess. Does it ever end? |
