I don't know why everything has to turn into an argument on this board anymore. And I see no reason for your condescending attitude, Robert-I. I have no doubt that there are several places in the Bible that can't be translated perfectly into modern English. And current common attitudes prevalent during the time the translation occurred could have influenced some of the words chosen. But I get tired of all the bickering over the fine points of the Bible. And I find it amazing that many of the most adament proponents of some of these "alternate" translations have a vested interest in this different meaning proposed. But I'm sure that must just be a coincidence. Robert-I, your argument would carry a lot more weight if it were being proposed by a non-gay person. Are you saying there just aren't any non-gays that can translate as well as you can? Frankly, I'm not a good enough student of the Bible to know whether your position holds water or not. But to accept your point of view, I would have to conclude that the vast majority of Holy men and Biblical scholars thruout the ages are wrong, but a small (relatively speaking) group of gays are right. If there were a group of straights along side you making the same claims, it might help your cause.

I'm willing to admit that I don't know everything. And therefore, I'm happy to stand side by side with my fellow Christians, even if we disagree on some points, because we have that all important "oneness" of being washed in the blood of Christ. If others want to live differently than what I believe is right before God, that is between them and God, not them and me. I'll love them all the same. But the more someone tries to beat me over the head with their alternate views demanding I accept them or claiming my eyes need to be opened, the more I want to distance myself from that person. Could I be wrong? Of course. But so could you. And as Eldad pointed out in a previous post, God is more concerned with our eternal well being than our temporal comforts. (Or something like that) So if I miss out on a few pleasures and liberties in this world because I was mistaken about what the Bible was saying, I'll have all of eternity in paradise to get over it. But I wonder how much I'm really going to be upset over a few things I might have missed out on when I'm in Heaven with God?
