Robert-I, your argument would carry a lot more weight if it were being proposed by a non-gay person.
Whether an argument is good or not depends on the argument itself, not on the person presenting it. To claim that an argument is poor because its main proponents have a vested interest in it is not a logically sound argument. When you consider the fact that only those with a vested interest in something are likely to investigate every detail of that subject, you realize that, contrary to what your previous argument implies, it is those people who are the most well versed on the subject for they have done more research than anyone. If you disagree with the argument, go ahead and pick it apart. Pointing out that most people who have a certain point of view have a vested interest in seeing things that way is not a sound argument. Using that argument, one could dismiss almost anything. |
