BL relations in the Bible?

Posted by Little Tree on 2009-09-11 18:44:41, Friday

I always thought you could not find any BL relationship in the Bible (one reason why I hesistated to accept my orientation first) - and when it comes to love towards others, it is true that you mainly read of love for a wife, for your own children, and brotherly love.

But maybe there are some examples that can be classified as a BL relationship. When I added relationships between parents and their son I did so because I considered this relationship stronger than just father's love towards his son.

Abraham - Isaac (Gen 22:2) seems he loved him more than his wife?

Rebecca - Jacob (Gen 25:28) she loved him because he was a boy so tender

Jacob - Joseph (Gen 37:3) he loved him more than any of his sons

Saul - David (1Sam 16:21) sometimes at least he really loved him - but it was not a permanent love

Jonathan - David (1Sam 18:1 + 2Sam 1:26) perhaps the best example of a true BL relationship (Jonathan was at least 14 years older than David, David was still a lad when it began and it lasted until Jonathan's death)

King of Babylon - Daniel & friends (Dan 1:4) Nebuchadnezzar searched for

beautiful well-flavoured boys; (Dan 6:15+19) later, also Darius loved Daniel

Jesus - disciple John (John 13:23 et al) John was a very young man when Jesus called him (cf. the time when he wrote his Bible books); of course Jesus loved everyone, but it seems as he had a special affection to John

Paul - Timothy (2Tim 1:2 et al)

of Jesus it is said that he was in favour of all people when he was a 12yo (Luke 2:52) which means people considered him attractive to some degree at least

What do you think about these? Maybe you found some more. Don't get me wrong, I am not making the Bible a kind of BL Gospel, but just focussed on these relationships here.
