Feeling thoroughly sorry for myself, I viewed my favourite worship song again. Favourite? Well, it successfully reduces me to tears - but that's because it emphasises a truth that speaks to the need in my heart. It's 'There is a higher throne'; unlike much worship, it focuses on our ultimate status, to spend ETERNITY with God in our true home

"And there we'll find our home,
Our life before the throne;
We'll honor Him in perfect song
Where we belong.
He'll wipe each tear-stained eye"

Being a BL is, often, to be rejected and fearful; we believe that we have a highly conditional acceptance from those around us. Often close friends are unaware of our real struggles, and we don't, rightly or wrongly, take the risk of unveiling to them. So the real us is unknown, and we struggle to appreciate the love that they do offer, because 'if only they knew, they'd reject us' is a thought that we can't escape.

This song is a reminder that we have a true home, that one day we will be there, and that then our tears will be wiped away by the ruler of the universe. That's the person that makes our present rulers look like dust. Imagine being summoned to the White House, sitting down with the President, his telling you that the NSA has a complete file about you, but that it DOESN'T MATTER. It's over, it won't ever be a problem again, the struggles are past... But we are promised that GOD HIMSELF will say that to us.

We have a true hope - if we are trusting in God for our salvation. Let us therefore live lives worthy of God's call on us.
