I understand what you mean, and I agree with the part that God is the same yesterday, today, and always; and the part about our accountability to Him. But at the moment, I have to disagree about the traditional interpretation of the Scripture as it pertains to homosexuality and marriage.
Recently, we had a discussion on the theology from Scripture surrounding homosexuality (and a bit on pedophilia too) here. Please read that whole convo (it's not that long, but it is deep at times), I think it's worth it. I'd also like to direct your eyes here for some supporting discussion about the ex-gay concept and the harm it can cause. The point that I am trying to make in these conversations is that God is the same forever, but our understanding of Him grows every day. God's Word contains everything that He wants us to know about Himself and our Salvation, but we have time and time again failed to understand it properly, making planet-wide atrocities in His name because of that failure: The Inquisition, the Crusades, racism, sexism, conversion at sword-point just to name a few times we have committed sins beyond our own comprehension because we misunderstood what God's Word was telling us. And I claim that the traditional reading of the relevant Scripture is one of these times, and only now are we uncovering the fault and finding the more Biblically consistent understanding, so that we can faithfully translate that Word into our own tongue(s). I'd like to talk more with you about this after you've read that, if you'd like to help me out. Just start another convo on the subject so we don't clog this one! Love in Christ, ~CSL ![]() |
