The way I see it.

Hey Aionios,

I'll just tell you how I see it.
I believe the the Bible has authority as our "rule of faith". That means that I follow it's teachings as best I'm able (and for me that includes the writings of Paul).

I see that love is the most important thing.... but... love of God comes first... before love of one another. In fact... we cannot love one another properly (I would argue) if we do not love God first.

Love towards God in Scripture is also called holiness.... elsewhere, obedience. (eg: Jesus said in John, "if you love me, keep my commandments.)

Whilst we may feel genuine, loving affection towards any person, only certain relationships are holy within the Scriptural framework.

Some people see gay marriage as fitting within that framework.... personally I don't. But certain hetero-couplings are also prohibited: (adulterous relationships, Christian widows marrying non-Christians and sex outside of marriage). No matter how much these couples "love" each other... (and they may really love each other)... their unions are not holy and are prohibited.

In my view, marriage between man and a woman was sanctioned by God in Genesis 1-2 and ratified by Jesus in Matt 19, with whom Paul agrees in 1 Cor 7. The biblical view is consistent and clear in that regard.

Blessings
Cat.
