We Need Each Other
A Letter from Chris

Probably the most troubling problem we face as Christian boylovers is our "fear factor."  By that I mean the way we feel we must live in secrecy due to the atmosphere in our society today.  Any boylover can relate to this, but it has quite a confusing and frustrating impact on us as Christians.  But friends and brothers (and sisters) in Christ, I believe God has an answer for us.

First of all, we are God's children.  This is first and foremost in our faith as Christians.  And as his most beloved children, God's word tells us time and again not to be fearful.  Check out Romans 8:15:  "For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.  And by him we cry, 'Abba, father.'"

Of course, to obtain this freedom from fear, we must have great faith in the Lord.  But this faith is already given to us.  The Holy Spirit not only can, but will supply us with the faith we need.  Take a look at Ephesians 6:10-17.  It speaks about the "armor of God," of which our "shield" is our faith (vs. 16).  Verse 11 tells us to "put on the full armor of God."  It doesn't tell us to go get the armor of God, but to put it on--as if we already have it!  We only must choose to use it.  And folks, this faith that God has already given us will provide us with this freedom from fear we desperately need.

We need to be free of fear because we need one another so much, not only for encouragement, but in order to learn from each other.  I cannot even begin to tell you how much your encouragement has meant to me, through all of the trials, troubles, and tribulations I have had to face in the last couple of years.  I have lost my house and my credit.  I have had to move from my hometown to a different state.  And I have had to be away from the internet for a while during this time.  Does that mean I have lost contact with my boylover brothers in Christ?  No way!  Folks have been staying in contact with me by phone and snail-mail.  Quite a few of you have put on your armor and have picked up your shield of faith.  Because of this, I am still doing quite well in my faith.  (I praise God and thank all of you as well.)

If some of you had not used your "shield of faith" and had worried too much about staying anonymous, this could not have happened.  Folks, I know that it is frightening to open ourselves up to one another by not being so anonymous, but it is necessary.  However, it is good to be cautious, because there are still many people who do not understand us and who may wish to harm us in some way.  But we must all learn to use our armor and our shields of faith.  This requires a certain amount of willingness to trust in God's word.

It must be a frightening thing to go into battle for the very first time for any soldier.  What would happen if that soldier tried to go into battle without the proper gear?  That would be almost suicidal.  That is why our country spends so much money to equip our men in the military, and why God has spent so much in order to properly equip us.  What did God spend?  He paid a very high price for us with the death of his only son, Jesus, because he loves us so very much.

And I love all of you as well!  God bless everyone whom this humble letter of mine may reach.  You are all constantly in my prayers.  I truly love you all as my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus!

Love, your brother in Christ,
Chris

Chris is in transition between jobs.  In his spare time he is a freelance musician, and he recently started a Christian rock band.
