So my yf's b'day is coming up in the not to distant future.

I want to get him a b'day present. In fact I've already got it.

My wife don't know.... if she did, it might upset her.

Should I:
1). Forget about giving him a present for the sake of not upseting my wife.
2). Try and give it to him without her noticing and risk her being very hurt if she finds out about it from someone else. And since she's friends with his mum it may get mentioned as some stage.
3). Tell her that I intend to give it to him and do it out in the open.

Personally I think I'm leaning on number 3. If I'm going to risk hurting her then I'd rather her know it openly than feel betrayed later and try and explain that I was "protecting" her.
The real issue is should I expose her to this potetial hurt in the first place I guess.
I really want to give him this present!
