I think a pedophile.... etomoligically: "child lover"... has just as much chance of "loving" a boy as a boylover.

I don't know the history, but I suspect that the key reason the terms "boylover" and "girllover" came about is because of societies "monsterising" of the term "pedophile" and because of pedophiles' desire to acknowledge that we don't JUST want to get into kid's pants.
