The use of the term pedophile is thus bad etymology, and I've heard it argued that it was introduced by the British 'Pedophile Information Exchange' which was an attempt to seek legitimacy for intergenerational relationships. However once more the term was taken up by the witch hunters, so the current phrases of Boy/Girl lover and Minor Attracted Adults were introduced; sadly I doubt the use of different terms will successful lance the boil of hatred which we face.
