... I am certain that every person here has first hand knowledge of multiple people who have grown up or are growing up with an absent or distant father
... only a tiny fraction of whom are minor attracted For what it's worth, I tend to feel that father issues can affect sexual identity in more ways than just minor attraction. Homosexuality, in general, might have roots here, too -- for some people, at least. In that sense, I don't know that comparisons to rates of sexual abuse would be all that helpful, since it would only represent a part of the picture. One more thought on this: Everybody is different. Personalities are different. A particular event in the life of one person might affect them in one way, whereas the same event in the life of someone else might have a very different effect. That's way I think issues like absent/distant fathers and sexual abuse might play a role in some people being gay or BL, but for other people there might not be a similar effect -- it might play out in their lives in different ways. I don't meant to start sounding like a psychologist, because I'm certainly not. I'm also close to being way out of my depth here, and can't really afford to get into any major debates (like this time last year :-). So, I'll just put this down to "my opinion" and move on.
