Rainboy: In that sense, I don't know that comparisons to rates of sexual abuse would be all that helpful, since it would only represent a part of the picture.

Blackstone: I don't think anyone is proposing that this is the one factor that leads to BLism. It is expected that if this contributes to the creation of BLs, then it is likely to be only one of the many factors that contributes to that.

Hi Blackstone,

I think I understand what you're saying, and I think we're probably in agreement. However, the point I was trying to make was not quite the same thing. Though I agree that there is likely more than one factor leading to BLism, my point was that father issues can impact people in more than one way, and BLism is only one of those possible ways. [Almost the inverse of what you said in the quote above.]

As I see it, someone with father issues might well become a "normal" homosexual (with no BL tendencies). Or they might develop issues with anger, but no sexual issues. Or any of a number of possible things. So, if developing BL tendencies is only one of a host of possible outcomes of an increase in father issues, and, if only a small percentage of those with BL issues ever resort to child abuse, the impact on child-abuse statistic might be difficult to detect.

Does that make sense? As I write this I realize it's not a particularly strong point, so if it doesn't make sense, I'm happy to drop it. But I figured I'd make one more attempt at clarifying.

Blessings,
Rainboy
