Kids are less mature these days!
Not an entirely facetious thought; it is true in my experience that kids that grow up 'on the street' or at boarding school are emotionally more mature that those who have always been protected by home. In the context of the increasing degree of over-protection that a lot of parents are enforcing, it would make sense that kids are less mature these days. So it's not your AoA that's altered, it's 'kids' who are different these days... On the broader point; perhaps I'm being thick - but what's the issue here? Apart from the shock of a group that you thought weren't attractive now proving to be... surely you've had to deal with some degree of attraction over the years? Or is it that you had a lifestyle where you had almost no contact with attractive boys - and this has now altered? Which does make sense; most of my time at the moment I have minimal contact with boys... I guess you need to redevelop the skills of walking away from temptations: my own approach is either to thank God for the boy, praising Him for his beauty, and asking for God to start to work on his life - or to think something like: I bet his breathe smells / he's actually really thick or something else which just breaks me out of the enticement. Not easy to achieve - the ideal is for it to be such an automatic response that it emerges as soon as some eye candy appears... |
