I'd be interested to hear the view of our more technical members as to whether this is the case or not, and whether it can be trusted. If so, it reduces the prospect of problems because although your ISP may record where you've been, if you've not focused on the small pix that are iffy, then you're likely not be chargeable. Certainly up till now charges have been on the basis of what's on your hard disk...
But I suspect your concern is overdone; the only way people appear to get caught is: 1) Their credit card details are recorded to give access to an illegal site that is subsequently raided 2) Illegal pix are found on their computer by someone with innocent access 3) Visiting a 'honeypot' - a trap deliberately set up by a police force to collect people who are looking for illegal stuff. As far as I'm aware, noone has yet been done as a result of a fishing expedition in the logs of an ISP - though I stand to be corrected. Therefore if you are careful you are likely to be ignored by the cops... |
