The reality is that of course for a non-Christian BL boys will be his god in the sense of being the most important thing in his life, and as someone who has made the mistake of choosing my YF over God on occasion I know of what I speak. The only surprise to me is the degree to which the terminology is being used so openly, which I suspect reflects a general low appreciation of spiritual realities combined with a seeking after an image to express the strength of the attachment that we feel. The challenges for us are: to be as serious about God as we are about our YFs and to realise that we do have a wonderful gospel of hope to share. The challenge is to do so without getting up people's noses...
