As for social skills one thing you can do to improve relations with her is. First people love to talk about them selves so ask questions about her life and find out what she is interested in. Then make an effort to get as much info about the things you now know she would like to talk about. Then as you have conversations with her she will enjoy the fact you may share some things
in common with her, and maybe have respect for you because you care enough
to share your time and will also realize you are being thoughtful.

If it helps to do this for the relationship with your yf her kid than it
