My answer is that I would EXCHANGE it in a heartbeat. I would never give up my sexuality or the passionate desires that I feel, as they are God-given. But I would gladly exchange the objects (e.g. persons) for which I feel such passion. My greatest fear is that society cares only that we do NOT feel these desires or act upon them; i.e. they care ONLY that we are "neutered" of our desires and their kids are "safe". They care little that our desires be redirected and fulfilled and satisfied in healthy passion. I am convinced that sexual desires are shaped during preadolescence and adolescence and society cares nothing about investing in learning to reshape them if that original opportunity is missed. I imagine society simply thinks, "Sorry, you're just not worth it to us. It's just your lot in life."
