Matthew 4: 1-10

1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.2After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." 4Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. 5Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6"If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written:
"He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
7Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test. 8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." 10Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.

As Christians Satan knows that he can not take our salvation away. So he tries to make our witness as a Christian as bad as he possibly can. He tries to get us living outside of Gods will. Satan knows what each of our weaknesses are and by temptation tries to deceive us and if we fail what does the world see. It affects our walk with the lord and affects the people that are influenced by our lives.

We are given a clear picture by Jesus on how to handle temptation. Each time that Satan tempted Jesus, he quoted the Scriptures showing the correct way and what God expects. Most of us live in a society where we have the freedom to own and read the Bible. As Christians who want to live for and serve the Lord we should be reading the Scriptures and praying often.

I have children grandchildren nieces and nephews and I have had many YF’s in my life that I have mentored. I have always been the most proud and happy when they have listened and obeyed me because I love them and they love me. And isn’t that the reason that our father in heaven wants us to listen and obey him. Because he loves us so much and wants us to love him.

Prayer

Thank you Father for the love that you have for us and give to us. Help us to give you the same love in return. Give us the will and strength that we need to be obedient and be good witnesses as Christians. In Jesus Name I Pray AMEN
