Christian BoyLove Forum #65360
One of the greatest heroes of the bible is David, whom God picked from being a shepherd to become king. And yet he fouled up totally - not only committing adultery, but then murdering the husband to get him out of the way. Yet God was faithful to him and forgave him. As I John 1:9 puts it:
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Who are we to presume to be more down on ourselves than God is?
My current 'favourite' song (favourite in the sense of making me burst into tears because it reminds me of our true home) is:
'There is a higher throne'
"And there we'll find our home,
Our life before the throne;
We'll honor Him in perfect song
Where we belong.
He'll wipe each tear-stained eye
As thirst and hunger die."
We've ALL sinned; God didn't pick us because we are worthy of His love, but because He wants us to be in His life for ever. The problem for us BLs is that the temptation that we struggle with is deeply unacceptable, compared with the routine offences that the church deals with. As a result we struggle to find support from others; merely to mention the nature of our temptation is to risk ostracism. One of the big contributions of this board is that it's a place where we can talk freely about how hard it is. But it is possible to thrive and make a positive contribution to the world in general, and sometimes to boys in particular.
