This Psalm is a prophecy concerning the priethood of Jesus Christ, since the priesthood of Melchizedek is based on himself alone and not on his parentage. Keep in mind that the Levites were priests because they were born into the tribe of Levi and not because they wore denims. Melchizedek has no geneology; no one prece3ded or followed him. Therefore Melchizedek is a type of Christ. This is emphasized by Christ's quoting this same psalm when talking with the Pharisees at one point.
