Christian BoyLove Forum #63734
What I was hearing in Chris' post was that it was his opinion that a molester and a BL are totally different species and the two should never be confused. And that's what I was reacting to. If that not what he said, I'm not sure what he was trying to say unless he was arguing that that view is the view of the world, but not his.
Let's express my view and see if we can agree on it. We are all sinners - and in the context of God's holiness and our need for forgiveness, the variation in the badness of our sins is a totally negligible detail; as the phrase is 'the ground before the cross is flat'. And the starting point of the gospel is that God offers to forgive us our sin, however horrendous.
Given that context, it is wrong for a Christian to speak disdainfully of 'molesters' or other 'creeps' in a way that suggests that he is better than them. Now of course the world does - but then the world is desperately trying to pretend to itself that it's OK and doesn't need God's forgiveness. In that context the claim that 'I'm better than those creeps because they've done X' is a part of the world's attempt at self justification. But it's not worthy of Christians who are to be conscious of how much they have been forgiven, and therefore be certain to extend that same forgiveness to others (The parable of the unforgiving servant - Mt 18 v21f) as well as the story of the Pharisee and the tax collector (Lk 18 v 9f), which warns us against self confidence in being holy.
So let's be clear about this: this board is for all who are attracted sexually by boys - whether they have succumbed to the temptation or not. What I heard - whether it was intended or not in Chris' post - was an attempt to look down on those who have succumbed. If that was not his intention, then I apologise for jumping down his throat - but if that's what I heard, then others may have done so and felt rejected as a result, which would be very unfortunate.
I hope that makes sense!
