Hebrews 12 teaches that those son's whom God loves He disciplines.

I'd encourage you to see that the hardships of your life are God's tools in disciplining your character as a beloved son.

It's not about repaying debt... it's about God loves you through everything and in everything and always more than you could ever imagine.
