This is a very rare opportunity for you to do some real good. I'm not saying every pedo-hater will change their views, but you will be able to plant a few seeds in some of the more rational among them. I think it's amazing that the TV station is even willing to broadcast the pedo point of view. Since they are looking for a non-offender, it tells me that they aren't just looking to do a hatchet job on some poor soul to garner cheap ratings.

A phone interview wouldn't be nearly as compelling as a face to face on camera. Of course, they would either keep you in shadow or pixilate your face, and alter your voice. But people at the station would still know who you were. So it would depend on how big a population there is where you are as to how big the chance is that someone who knows you would ever know.

There is a risk. Not a legal one, but a life changing one if it ever did get out who you were. For what it's worth, I'm pretty certain that it's going to take just such situations with brave pioneers willing to risk or sacrifice their anonymity before there is any real change in attitudes among the general public. But to be honest, I doubt I would ever be one of those pioneers. I believe any significant change will take many years after non-offenders start speaking out. And it may be selfish of me, but I'm not willing to take the risks for the betterment of future generations. I'm no pioneer. Many kudos to you if you decide to be one, but it's very understandable if you don't.
