I wonder if Jonathan Edwards is actually giving God's grace all the credit that it deserves. Yes we all struggle with temptation and sin and we will win some battles, some of them quite major ones. But ultimately we will all know failure many times over. I beleive God has given us such a wonderful gift of grace so that we do not have to beat ourselves up every time we screw up. I will have to go to the site you provided and do some reading, but from the way you write about it, it sounds like this guy might be into some pretty heavy self-loathing. And this isn't what God wants us to do, either. Yes we must be honestly and completely sorry for what we have done when we fail God, but He dosen't want us to beat ourselves up over it. That is why Jesus did what He did...so that we don't have to be condemned, or condemn ourselves.
