I have not told any of my yfs that I am a pedophile but I know a few people who have and none of these people had negative reactions.

In general I would say the boy's reaction is determined by three things: their opinion on homosexuality, how much indoctrination (yes I can use PJ's word for us in the opposite manner) they have received and believed about pedophiles, and how emotionally close they are to their AF.

Since marc's friend was near his age and marc told him he was attracted him he assumed marc was gay. I am postulating that his friend thought being gay was horrible and that is why he reacted so badly. Oh how the stereotypes hurt more people.
