rather I'm emphasising the need for us all who are living a celibate lifestyle to find truly close friendships with a variety of people which aren't consciously romantic. We all need to be loved; the only model that most of us see, especially in the media, is coupledom, but if we think more widely we can probably all think of people who are single and yet seem to thrive emotionally. It takes work - but then actually so does a decent marriage - but it is my experience that it can be achieved.
Does that make more sense? |
