Strangely, the example you used could be an example I use also to explain why I feel comfortable around kids. If I had yellow teeth (I don't but I have many other imperfections) I would always wonder what an adult might be thinking about them when talking with adults, how my teeth might affect their opinion of me. But kids are more apt to just come out and ask about them. Then I could tell by how they asked whether it bothered them or if they were just curious. (Most would just be curious) Adults are much more likely to not mention them but gossip about them later. I guess we each have our own way of looking at things.
