Ok...without giving too much of the book away. First of all, it's interesting that you use the terminology "good guys" and "bad guys" because that is how the man and the boy refer to themselves and others whom they meet on the road. And yes, you are right, they must eat whatever they can find and IF they can find canned goods, that is what they eat. Ok...that's all I will give away. I think you would like this book, it's dark but there is a wonderful ray of light that shines through in the form of the love between the boy and the man.
