"The members on boychat argue that as long as a child consents to sexual acts with an adult they will grow up normal and happy with their choice."
There are many posters on BoyChat, including myself, who do not agree with that argument. Unfortunately, your introduction was negative, hostile and laden with moral judgements. The suggestion that one should remain celibate - as opposed to abstinent - is offensive to paedophiles who are not religious, although I accept that you may not have known this. You may have been stating that you feel it is immoral to be around children while having sexual thoughts about them, but the inference which I (and presumably much of Boychat) originally made was that you consider us to be potential child molesters. Furthermore, suggesting that paedophiles should avoid spending time with children simply because it is "immoral" is your personal opinion. You are obviously entitled to your personal opinion, however you should not try to project this belief onto others unless you are happy to receive a negative response. I stand by my original statement that practicing celibacy is dangerous. Consider the owners of a now defunct BL radio station, who insisted that BLs should remain celibate and never have sexual thoughts about children, then molested three young boys. There are many other examples, for which I do not remember the exact details, where repressed paedophiles with no sexual outlet have abused young children. The main issue, in my opinion, is your apparent tendency to generalise and see things in black and white. The phrases which you use in this post, notably "consumed by their desires" and "justification of their behaviour" are characteristic of anti-paedophile crusaders, as they imply that all paedophiles on BoyChat are unable to control their behaviour. I am a regular poster at BoyChat, however I have a rather low sex drive and do not find it difficult to control myself around children. I understand that you have strong beliefs, and that your religion may influence how you react to other beliefs, however you should also learn to accept the views of other if you wish to be accepted within the wider BL community. |
