Like I've said before, I think that very few people would consider us monsters if they knew us.
Most people consider pedophiles monsters but what they are truly considering a monster is not a real pedophile but rather their media created sensationalized view of what a pedophile is. If the reality of who you are approaches that view of what a pedophile is, then yes they do think you are a monster. However, if the reality of who you are is as different from that media driven fantasy view as the reality of who I am is, then chances are that no, most people would not consider the real you a monster. What I have encountered from people who get to know a pedophile is that, while they no longer believe that person is a monster just by virtue of being a pedophile, this doesn't change their view of all other pedophiles. They simply think that the individual they know and care about is a rare exception and most other pedophiles really are the grooming, molesting monsters that the media portrays. I find a much more interesting thing in your post though. Namely this sentence: I get the feeling that most people would be more sympathetic if they could get their heads around the difference between BLs who have sex with kids and those who abstain. Tell me. What is it you think that difference is? |
