| I don't know where you get the idea that I am opposed to special interest groups. If you had read my other posts, you would have realized that I only said that I didn't believe that gays were entitled to protection as a special interest group. I believe that civil rights movement of the 60's was a great thing, not only for blacks, but for our country as a whole. I even support some elements of the woman's rights movement. And I also support most of the rights of handicapped persons. We as Americans tend to go to extremes in protecting the rights of most groups. Sometimes it is justified, sometimes it is detrimental to the greater good of all Americans. I think that granting special interest group status to gays would be a step backward. |
