I believe things happen in order for you to live out your destiny. If Martin Luther King Jr. did not have the painful experiences of being black in America, he would never have "had a dream." God only knows the true reason why things happen. I can only speculate that without the painful experiences, Mr. King would not have achieved his mark on this world. We could say the same thing of Mother Teresa and other people who fufilled who they were suppose to be. I'll never know, for example, why at age 11, my house burnt down leaving me, literally, with just the clothes on my back. However, this event has molded me for a purpose. It, along with many other events, have molded me into the man I am today. I do "see" the world differently than most people I come into contact with. In fact, there are times when I have trouble relating to other people's "stuff." In short, I feel I do NOT fit in this world. Perhaps, I am NOT of this world. In my view, each person that walks the face of the earth is given certain experiences, and with God's help, He uses these painful (and good) experiences in order to fufil God's dream for our lives. This dream is different for each of us. However, I think God wants us to seek Him (and in turn ourselves) with all our heart and soul. To me, the question "why" is a distraction. However, for you, it may be one of your purposes in life to figure out the puzzle (if this is possible). I am sure you know that many scientific discoveries only lead to more "whys." I think God puts the why out there, not only to be discovered, but perhaps more importantly, to amaze us that for every answer, there are many more questions left unanswered. I think this lack of truth, this lack of being able to unlock all the mysteries of our universe, is precisely there, so that we are forced to lean on God. For what purpose is there for God in our lives if we know (and understand) ALL that He knows? ~Once a Boy |
