Most children who are abused, neglected, kidnapped, or murdered are by their parents. This does not sell very well to the public so let's promote stranger danger which is very rare and is very handy to elect politicians, pump out jobs, exert control over people, pander to emotions rather than reason, and other nefarious things. All the non profits and government agencies dedicated to this cause are about "saving the children" right?
