We had one at the back fence just a few days ago, an opossum, our own eastern North American souvenir of the ancient plate-tectonic unity of Chile and New South Wales. Now if you want to talk Monotremes, then you're talking something truly Australian. You've got to love an egg-laying mammal. The duck-billed platypus, like the stinkhorn mushroom (which looks just like a human erection) surely backs up the lite version of the Intelligent Design hypothesis, which is the Tongue-in-Cheek design hypothesis. People never want to allow God a sense of humor. |
