| The obvious application of this is that adultery is a breach of trust that is deeply destructive to a relationship, so once two people have been married, it follows that it is a matter of love. But in the wider context of two people not yet married, we come down to a debate about whether sex before marriage damages the ability of the people to bond after marriage. Such damage provides a clear basis for resisting the temptation to uncommitted sex as it would not be loving of the possible future partner. |
