I don't think that God is changable... I think he's complex.

5 blind men were asked to describe an elephant though they had never been near one before. The first man approached the creatures trunk and said, the elephant is long and flexible like a snake. The second man approached the elephant's leg and said, the elephant is round and thick like the trunk of a large tree. The third man approached the elephant's side and said, this creature is like a great wrinkled wall taller than a man. The fourth apporached the elephants ear and said, this creature is large and flat like a peice of leather. The fifth man approached the tail and declaired, I don't know what the rest of you are talking about... this creature is like a thin peice of tough rope with a tassel on the end.
None of the men were wrong.. but on their own, non of them had the full picture either. They lacked the perspective to really "see" the elephant. All they got were "glimpses" of parts. This is how our understanding of God is. We see parts. And sometimes we struggle to understand how those parts can all fit together... but they do.

God doesn't have to either be jealous or not jealous. He can be both. This in not a contradiction... it's a complexity.

As to Scripture... if you are looking for flawlessness in it.. you just won't find it. The bible is made of human words, by human men. It is a human work and as such it contains human flaws. Nevertheless, it is at the same time a work of God. A tool and an instrument that He has used to speak to us with Authority and Power. What the bible says is TRUE... even if it isn't always what we would call "accurate" in certain details. The humanness does not weaken it's ablility to be the word of God any more that Jesus' humanity weakened His ability to be the word of God. It is a limited tool, but the tool God has chosen non-the-less. To require the tool to be "flawless" in order to be the word of God is asking something of it that God doesn't need it to be. Only people who elevate reason and science above faith seek to discredit the bible based on its humaity. Either way, God's word goes out and achieves what He designed it to do.... bring people to saving faith in Jesus and equip them for every good work.
