Yes I use the Bible because it is a historical text that records some of the History of Mankind but it is not the end all be all which is why I trust in my Father in Heaven's Spirit to guide and lead me not some text put together by Men no matter how noble or well intended.

I agree with you to a point. You shouldn't base your Christian walk only on the Bible. The Bible can be misinterpreted. Neither should you base your Christian walk only on the leading of the Holy Spirit. That can be misinterpreted also. I've always been taught (and it seems to have held true thru the years) that the successful Christian walk should encompass three main areas. 1) Bible study. 2) Prayer (which is where the Holy Spirit comes in). 3) Christian fellowship (which is where learning from other Christians comes in.) It's like a 3 legged table with each leg dependant on the others to hold it up.

I don't think there are many Christians who claim the translations of the Bible are perfect. Most (including myself) consider the Bible to be the word of God. But keep in mind that the Bible is an attempt to help mere humans understand the character of God. That's harder than trying to explain nuclear physics to a two year old.
