18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam [h] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs [i] and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib [j] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, [k] ' for she was taken out of man." 24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. 25 The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. Questions on these passages: 1st. After God says it is not good for man to be alone he will make a helper suitable for him why did he bring to Adam the Animals first and not do the deep sleep routine then have Adam name the animals. 2nd. Why did adam respond after naming the animals that there was still no suitalbe helper found. If this was wrong why didn't God object to Adam's response and clarify that they were not to be picked as a helper suitable for himself? 3rd. Also, as someone pointed out on www.cjat.org it was Adam not God who made the statement of Bone of my bone flesh of my flesh and he will leave mom for wife(paraphrashing). So if monogamy is God's will why didn't he make that clear in the beginning. Afterthought Question: Why did it take years before man received the ten commandments? Wny leave so much up to man but at the same time blame us for our mistakes when we are only human? Also, I am bothered by a "Loving God" that will punish me for something someone did centuries before I existed. Would anyone of us punish our kids for something someone else did especially if they never even knew the person? If we being evil would give our child a loaf of bread when he asks and not a snake than how much more will our father in heaven give us what we ask? Just more questions on my mind. I hope you are willing to share. |
