This is the crunch, not just for the Protestant churches but for the Catholic churches too. Pope Benedict has seen fit to insist that seminaries weed out potentially homosexual priests. Where on earth are the celibates to find a place now?
With bachelordom scarcely an acceptable alternative in modern family-orientated society the pressure to move into some sort of gay scene (be it Christian or not) is the only alternative to eremiticsm.
