Sorry, Aionios, but you are reacting in a sort of social panic mode. I know you're not alone in this, but it's callow (youthfully embarrassing) and it demeans an otherwise very likeable person.

Surely you know that Nazi social engineering targeted not just genetic groups but also belief systems, most notably Jehovah's Witnesses, converts to Judaism, and socialists. Not to mention homosexuals, who were thought to represent a belief system. Yes, this panic could just as easily be about you.

Islam does indeed "preach hell," just like the holy roller evangelists of Christianity, but that viewpoint is covered by 'freedom of religion.'

Everyone wants to jump on the child abuse accusation bandwagon these days, but among the many things so accused that actually are NOT abuse, bringing up kids in a hell-fearing religion is not abuse. They have *free will* anyways, so they can decide for themselves in their majority what they will do with this idea.

Please don't make our muslim neighbours all panicky while they're adapting to democratic life. Some of the most progressive people I know are muslims. And even the traditional ones can be very decent people. Don't let the papers convince you that they're all fanatical flakes, thus turning YOU into a fanatical counter-flake.
