Generally (not anecdotally) the greatest influence, either good or bad, on a boy's life is his father. This is God's way, notwithstanding the exceptions which occur in a fallen world.
When we come to Father God there is healing for the imperfect fathering that we all receive. It may be more damaging to a boy if fathering is offered where there is a hidden sexual interest. It is healthier if a relative, family friend, teacher, coach, pastor etc... is able to provide fathering that is missing, provided the motive is pure.
