Let's say I am with a boy walking on top of the moors on a very misty day. I have walked here many times so I know where everything is, but the boy is new so he does not. We are walking hand in hand. I know that the edge of the cliff is nearby, and at the bottom of the cliff there is a burning abyss of fire in which the boy will be ceaselessly tormented forever and ever if he fell into it (don't ask me why he doesn't just die, but hey, anything's possible with God). Now, we end up walking close to the cliff. The boy wants to explore. What would you do in this situation?
Would you: 1) Give the boy his beloved 'free will' and allow him to wander off. If he falls off the cliff (that he can't see), just remember that he CHOSE to so it's perfectly justified. 2) Let the boy wander about but grab him and pull him back if he ever got anywhere near the edge. 3) Decide it's far too risky and refuse to let go of the boy's hand whatever he says. Now remember, this is not a twisted analogy. We are children to God so the man/boy relationship is a perfect fit. What would you do? Would you do the rational and sane thing and follow option 3? I'd bet my soul that you would. Oh no... but why don't you follow your father's PERFECT example and follow number 1? Because that's what, according to you, he allows us to do? Isn't God's justice WONDERFUL =D =D =D =D And I bet you'd wonder why I wouldn't leave MY kids with mainstream Christendom? And you GET CONFUSED when people say that atheists are more moral than Christians? Ps. I'm not an atheist. I'm just showing you the blatant hypocricy involved in accepting this view of God that would make me feel blessed if Hitler was in control of the universe. |
