To this I would add that the Orthodox use the Jesus prayer in connection with a prayer rope. Th Jesus prayer is not the same as the Our Father, but is instead: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of Goid, have mercy on me, a sinner." this is repeated once for each knot on the prayer rope and sometimes quite often through many times of the prayer rope at one sitting. Some monks can say the Jesus Prayer 10,000 times in a day!
