Law should not become a substitute for common sense, & "Conscience warns
us as a friend, before it punishes as a judge." I think "No one wants to serve the Devil conscientiously." As I hope to point out in this way: As the Law of Sin and Death ruled from Adam to Moses {Rom.5:12-14} And did serve as like a tutor, schoolmaster or custodian: Until we go or have went to the school of Christ, and learned to be justified by faith in him, no law of man can be or do better than this. {Gal.3:22-25} Reading what God said of us at Gen.8:21 "the inclination of the heart of man, is bad from his youth up." To what can we add to this? I feel we have many laws to help us deal with the bad ruler of this world: (1)=The law of Conscience, (2)of Christ, (3)of God, (4)of Husband, (5)Of Faith, along with (6)=the Kingly Law of LOVE, (Jam.3:8) My point is; I fear more the Law of God, than those of mankind; yet I know that to overcome this fear, I have to deal with my sinful inclinations that I do not have to list here. But that you may know my aim; Self knowledge and self-control is of little help without God's Holy Spirit. And that Spirit will not long dwell in an unclean mind, heart, body & soul. |
