I think that with self awareness comes a greater appreciation for what you have when you have a yf. I can't really explain why, but perhaps it has to do with the knowledge that this is the kind of life partner you are meant to be with and you are unlikely to ever have a more emotionally meaningful or fulfilling relationship than the one you are having with a boy.
