Yes, this is another one of my "famous" movie revues. Believe it or not,
this is probably the first boy-related movie I have seen that is actually worth writing about in a very long time. Mostly because I have not been watching a lot of those kind of movies AND the ones that I have seen haven't really been worth mentioning. Hopefully this one makes up for it, I think it does. First of all, this is not to be confused with the animated TV show. It has the same name but that is where the resemblance ends. This is a movie about a young boy who lives durring the Great Depression with his Mother, Father, and younger brother in a seedy hotel room in a city (not sure which city...it dosen't really matter to the story). The boy, the lead character, is about 12 years old and is the nicest, most lovable kid you can imagine, PLUS he is a straight-A student in school in spite of his mean surroundings. The story is about how he survives after his mother must go away to a sanitorium, his father has to leave out of town just to find work, and they have to ship his younger brother to family members who also live out of town. This is an excellent movie (although it is an older one...it was released in 1993) and I must commend the acting skills of young Aaron Bradford who plays the lead role in this movie. In fact, the entire cast is really quite good. The story is a heart-tugger and it even has a happy ending. I recomend this movie big time. I don't know how I ever missed this one, but I'm kind of glad I did...it was a great way to break out of my recent movie slump. ![]() |
