Thanks for that nice devotional - Amen! Nothing to add, but I was just reminded to a song that Billy Gilman (one of the greatest youngstars in music) sang when he was 13 called "My time on earth" (you can listen to it on youtube, see link). The refrain is:

The more that I know
The more I can see
The older I grow
The more I believe
It’s not the length of the life
Or the depth of the grave
In the end we'll be measured
By the love that we gave

Though we can enter Heaven only by faith, not by works, He will judge our life, or better to say, give the respective rewards, "by the love that we gave". And I personally think, if it is true (non-sexual) love towards children, He will appreciate it in a special way, for they are the "small ones of the flock".
